GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT

COURSE: The Powelton Club - Newburgh, NY
COURSE INFO: The Powelton Club, founded in 1882, is regarded as one of the finest clubs in the Hudson Valley. The golf course officially opened in 1926 and was designed by Devereux Emmet. It is situated on over 96 acres of land encompassing 6,193 yards, par 70 layout from the men’s tees. The Powelton Club is on the National Registry of Historical Places. A pool facility and 5 red Har-Tru tennis courts are other sports amenities offered to members. The golf course started Phase 1 of the Golf Course Master Plan in the Fall of 2018, which is primarily a bunker renovation. The Club is making plans to complete the other phases.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Superintendent position reports directly to the Greens Chairman of the Club and the General Manager. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of Superintendent or First Assistant Superintendent experience at a similar quality, full service facility. He or she must have a proven career path with strong operational management skills, experience with budgets, and a first class attention to detail in all aspects of the grounds maintenance. The ideal candidate should be a team leader, who provides motivation and respectful mentoring to the staff. In addition, the chosen candidate must function effectively with strong communication and interpersonal skills with the General Manager, Head Golf Professional, Green Chairman and Green Committee. Integrity, creativity and enthusiasm with a positive attitude about service are qualities of the utmost importance to our management team and membership.
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous construction and long-range planning experience is preferred. A college degree and the GCSAA designation are desirable.
COMPENSATION: Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. An on-premise private house is being offered as well. Standard GCSAA benefits offered and benefits package.
